Holly & Stephen

Château la Durantie, Dordogne

English wedding at Chateau la Durantie

The bride and groom

Holly and Stephen are two Londoners who chose Château de la Durantie in the Dordogne for their English wedding.

They brought their relatives to France, to this magnificent region in the middle between Limoges to the north and Périgueux to the south.

The ceremony took place in the château grounds.

For the evening, they brought in a food truck, and partied under a magnificent tent in front of Château la Durantie.

The preparations

The bride

After a 3-hour drive, I arrived at Château la Durantie for this beautiful English wedding. Once I met the newlyweds, who had just woken up, we began Holly's preparations.

Jolie anglaise accompanied by her friends in the château salons. They were all dressed in the same bathrobe, to match each other.

To celebrate this memorable wedding day in France, the girls sipped Champagne all morning! I love being a wedding photographer, but sometimes I wish I could enjoy it all day.

They communicated with the guys using walkie-talkies, which was original but really effective.

The groom

Stephen got ready in another building, next to the chateau la Durantie. As usual, the guys are wiser than the girls!

He adorned himself with a magnificent pocket watch hanging from his suit vest.

The ceremony

The discovery

Holly and Stephen chose to uncover their true selves at the ceremony in the château grounds.

Once all the guests were seated, Stephen stood at the end of the aisle waiting for his sweetheart. His mouth dropped as he welcomed his sweetheart on her father's arm.

The English ceremony

Château la Durantie welcomes many English and American couples. An English wedding ceremony celebrated their union.

The originality of this one was the balloon moment. I had the opportunity to take some wonderful photos, one of which won a prize in an international wedding photographer's competition.

Château la Durantie English wedding: the evening

Wedding meals and entertainment

For the cocktail reception and evening party, the bride and groom brought a food truck into the grounds of Chateau la Durantie. It stood right next to the tent where the guests spent the evening. Decorated with string lights, the effect was magnificent.

The cocktail party began with speeches by the bride's father and witnesses. Champagne helped everyone have a good laugh!

The first dance and the evening

Just as the evening was well underway, a pair of briefs appeared in the middle of the meal at the bride's table. Clean, I might add.

The evening continued in a frenzy as the bride and groom entered for the first dance. This was greeted by the cheers of their friends, before a moment of calm and romance.

However, when the dancing was over, the bride and groom's friends invaded the dance floor. That was the end of the evening for me. An evening of fun and delirium!

Congratulations to both of you!

Take a look at some of their wedding photos.
