Kathryn & Shoumo - Two intimate days between England and Indian traditions
Two different but perfectly complementary days, in a warm and elegant setting. A small group of guests all the way from England, a simple, human atmosphere, and a couple like we'd like to see in every report.
Ideally located in the heart of France, Château de Maulmont offers the perfect backdrop for this type of celebration, both intimate and exotic for guests from abroad.
This Indian wedding in Auvergne reminded me of Céline and Vinod's at Château de Miremont, or Kinisha and Neil's, which I was lucky enough to photograph in Washington D.C., USA. Each time, these celebrations are an opportunity to plunge into worlds rich in emotion, color and tradition - and what's even more appreciable is that they often extend over several days, prolonging my pleasure as a wedding photographer in contact with couples and their loved ones.
Saturday: civil wedding and secular ceremony at Château de Maulmont
Preparations in the tower and a relaxed atmosphere
The day began in the castle tower, with Kathryn and Shoumo getting ready in separate areas. The light was soft, the atmosphere tranquil, with no tension. I sensed right away that it was going to be a flowing day. Exchanges were simple, smiles were present, and the atmosphere was conducive to capturing real moments.
As a wedding photographer, these early moments are often my favorite. We discover the dynamics, the glances, the little gestures that speak volumes about the couple's complicity.
Outdoor secular ceremony and lunch in the courtyard
The wedding ceremony took place right in front of the château, in the open air. Around fifty guests attended, all close to the couple. A violinist played live, accompanying the highlights of the ceremony in a sincere, unstaged atmosphere.
It was during the master of ceremonies' speech that I discovered their story: they met in 2021 at a professional event, and began their relationship in 2022. A discreet, natural, unhurried trajectory that makes this wedding all the more touching.
Once everyone was seated at the table in the courtyard of the Château de Maulmont, Shoumo took the floor to make a speech and thank everyone. A lovely moment to share, which launched the lunch in a friendly, simple, informal atmosphere. Afterwards, everyone was able to enjoy the meal, chat and laugh... exactly what we like to find on this kind of day.
Sunday: Indian wedding ceremony in Auvergne under a big top
The arrival of traditional outfits and installation in the park
The next morning, the atmosphere changed. From 10.30am, the park of the Château de Maulmont was the setting for the second part of the wedding: an Indian ceremony held under a large tent.
Guests arrived dressed in traditional Indian outfits: saris, embroidery, bright colors. The atmosphere was lively, festive, with that special energy you find in Indian weddings, even here in Auvergne.
A Hindu wedding ceremony in Auvergne full of symbols and a refined meal
The Hindu ceremony was performed according to tradition, with Sanskrit mantras, a sacred fire and symbolic gestures. Everything was in place for a true Indian wedding in Auvergne, respectful of rituals but also very accessible to guests from other cultures.
A few group photos in the park followed, and then lunch, served by Création Gourmande, was an opportunity to extend the festivities with beautifully presented, highly successful dishes.
