Aïda & Gregory

Château de Maulmont | American wedding in France

Château de Maulmont : summary

The bride and groom

Château de Maulmont is an idyllic wedding venue in the Auvergne region of France. And our two lovers of the day, after traveling through the South of France, fell in love with this wedding reception venue.

Professional wedding photographer in Clermont-Ferrand, I had the pleasure of photographing Aïda and Gregory's wedding at the château.

Finally! Their wedding had been planned since 2019! After postponing their wedding 3 times because of COVID, Aida & Gregory were finally able to get married in France at the Château de Maulmont not far from Vichy.

The two lovers from New York are absolutely wonderful and extremely kind. It's always a pleasure to photograph couples like these two. What's more, when I see their wedding photos, I'm more than satisfied with the results.

Chateau de Maulmont : the preparations

The bride

The girls got ready in the King's bedroom, a sumptuous room with a breathtaking view over the valley. As for the men, they played tennis in the castle gardens, in a festive atmosphere.

Aida is a polyglot young woman who speaks fluent French, English, Spanish, Kazakh and Russian. Her family is originally from Kazakhstan, and has settled in Chicago, a city I know well from having photographed a wedding there not long ago. They're adorable and love to party.

In addition to their joie de vivre, Aida's family is also a family of top athletes. They are all fencing enthusiasts and world champions.

Part of the US national team made the trip to France to attend the wedding.

The groom

For me as a wedding photographer, the preparations are one of my favorite moments, along with the evening.

A moment of calm and friendship before the big rush of the wedding day.

Gregory got ready in an apartment at the Château de Maulmont, a majestic, rustic reception venue in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. He was surrounded by friends, who supported and encouraged him throughout this important day.

I took advantage of this moment to take some striking images, which will immortalize this unique moment.

Chateau de Maulmont : the ceremony

The arrival of the bride

The wedding ceremony took place under a marquee in the grounds of the Château de Maulmont, an idyllic setting for a union. The bride and groom exchanged vows surrounded by their loved ones, in an atmosphere full of emotion.

I particularly liked the photo of the bride's father embracing them both. It perfectly captures the tenderness and joy of this unique moment.

The guests' speeches were very moving. Parents of the bride and groom expressed their love and support for their parents, while friends shared touching anecdotes.

The bride and groom also gave tender and funny speeches, which had the whole assembly laughing. They showed their love and complicity in an original and humorous way.

Chateau de Maulmont : the evening

The speeches

After a smashing entrance by the witnesses, followed by the bride and groom, they began the evening with a touching speech. Several speeches followed throughout the meal, interspersed with laughter and tears. The meal took place under a marquee attached to the Château de Maulmont.

The first dance

The bride and groom's first dance was preceded by a dance by each of the bride and groom accompanied by their respective parents. Gregory and his mother, and Aïda and her father. Very touching moments.

The evening, which alternated frenzied dancing and delicious food, ended late, led by a great team of two DJs from Lyon.

But how did Aida and Gregory end up getting married in the Auvergne, in this beautiful Château de Maulmont in central France? Well, after visiting wedding reception venues around Cognac, without finding what they were looking for. Then they went to Vichy and discovered our beautiful Auvergne, with its abundance of picturesque locations. That's when they fell in love with Château de Maulmont. A large château, with plenty of rooms to accommodate families and friends.

For the record, Aïda's family hails from Kazakhstan. What's more, her father, an exceptional man, is an Olympic fencing champion from the former USSR. They later emigrated to the United States, settling permanently in Chicago. A city I had the opportunity to visit when I was a wedding photographer in Chicago.

What's more, Aïda followed in her father's footsteps, as a member of the US national fencing team! What a family of champions!

Naturally, many national and international-level American fencers were present.

Thank you Aïda & Gregory for a wonderful day at Château de Maulmont. We were lucky to have such a lovely couple as you.
